The sub-movement of surrealism known as "Surréalisme Extraterrestre" was only active briefly from June to August 1926. The handful of artists involved in the movement vanished one night while on an outing to the French Countryside. The few eyewitnesses to the event describe a massive glowing vessel descending from the clouds and pulling them up into the air, seemingly in defiance of the laws of gravity, and speeding away into the sky, never to be seen again.
